I’ve started replying to all messages the same way I reply to my work emails: “Sorry for my late reply, but…”
every week I tell myself, this will be the week when I reply to all those messages. And guess what? it doesn’t happen.
replying to messages has (literally) become a part of my to-do list. Not only that, but it has become one of the “tasks” (apologies for using this word) I keep postponing the most.
& I wish I didn’t, but I do it all the time.
I keep doing this because I want to take the time to properly respond to the people that I don’t see often; to the people that I manage to see a couple of times a year, and to the ones that who knows when I’d see next.
so when I’m saying “sorry for my late reply” I really mean it.
I might have taken extra long to reply because life goes fast sometimes and days blaze by in an attempt to make the most of them. I might have taken longer because I just needed to take the time & there is no need to justify my delay or simply because after being all day behind my laptop the last thing I want to do is go on my phone.
so sorry, really.
all this to say that I have many mixed feelings towards texting as a way to keep in touch since there’s so much that goes beyond a little text. That’s why I might end up sending voice notes that turn into podcasts. I love receiving them and listening to my friends’ voice notes to keep me company. But again, I take my time to do so.
that being said, I also love easily starring WhatsApp messages so I can go back to them.
here are some of them (my apologies for the language mix, but have to keep it real over here):
-t’estimo
-em dones la vida
-eres muy buena, eres original, tienes fuerza, argumentos, inspiración, yo te admiro mucho
-you have a place in my heart and I am so thankful for your friendship

-gracias vida por juntarnos (como dirías tú)

-proud of you for trying something new and opening yourself to this challenge, you absolutely made the most of it
-yoga, ejército, reunión y warrior dos
-gosh I wish we lived in the same city! I bet we’d do loads of fun stuff together!
-I was thinking the poetry and metaphors and cadence of each of your languages is so different, and your “voice” carries the whispers of these cultures. You have to keep writing. It will bring you and other so much joy
there’s so much power in reading between the lines (sometimes only!)
& again, sorry for my late reply <3
